Cricut: The Official Blog
Tuesday, February 8, 2011
We've been starting to think about having an occasional Guest Designer, and I can't think of a cuter one to start off with. My little 6 year old Emily made these pages and asked if I could please post them on the blog. Well, she really wanted to teach a class with them, but I told her that a Guest Designer spot would be a better place to start. (I can't have her out-shine me in the class arena, after all!)

Nana Susan helped by cutting out some trees for her. Then Emily asked Nana if she could please have some grass to go with them, as she can't just have trees floating around on the page. Way to anchor your focal point, kiddo!

Here we have an eclectic masterpiece. This is so versatile, and could be used for any outdoor pictures or zoo pictures, or Valentine's Day or Halloween. Oh, wait - there's no photo mats. So really, this is year-round "Wall Art". And Emily is demonstrating a new technique with something called "Scotch tape". Wow, that adds a lot of depth without adding too much more pattern. So clever.

Finally, Emily hit this one out of the park. It's understated, yet inspiring. And check out that "Scotch tape" technique again. She's a trend-setter.

And here's our Guest Designer, Miss Emily Griffith. Amazing job, young lady! Don't forget to leave a comment for Emily, so she can read them - and you'll also be entered for this week's blog candy - the Paisley cartridge.

Wow Emily what a great job you did. Love all your projects especially your year round layout, what a great way to get it all on one page. I think your mom has been giving you crafty lessons on how to create wonderful layouts or was your nana Susan? Keep up the great work I would love to see some more.

Great choice for you first guest designer.

Emily, I love your layouts. You are a talented young lady. I've got a (just turned) 3 year old grandson that loves my cricut. He and I play "school" on the cricut. I've been teaching him to load the paper, select a design, hit cut, and unload paper. He loves it. He gets to pick out a design ahead of time. Then he gets to glue and stick to pages. The most fun is when he uses the stickles to decorate the item. I started with glitter but it was too messy. So now my 2 year old granddaughter picks up Jaxon's book and flips through the pages and says "School !"
