October Greetings, Ghouls!!! I'm checking in to give you all a brief update and to let you know of a FUNdraiser I'm doing.
As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I'm now a 5 year Survivor of Inflammatory Breast Cancer, which is seriously miraculous!! I'm happy, healthy, and enjoying life, and so very thankful for that! IBC is the most deadly form of breast cancer, and has only a 40% survival rate, yet many people don't even know about it. Please learn the signs here on the IBC Network Foundation site, and be aware!!
So, the other day, I went on a Google search, hunting for an image of Snoopy (my favorite!!) holding a pink ribbon. I could find nothing even close, so I got to work designing it myself. I made a shirt for myself, and one for Emily and my Mom. And then it occurred to me that maybe I could do some good with this design. So I ordered a bunch more blank t-shirts, and also made some decals, and I'll be donating $2 from each item sold to IBC research (though my friend Terry Arnold, who founded the IBC Network Foundation, and is a Survivor herself, as well as a fantastic advocate and speaker for us!). You can purchase the t-shirts and decals on my Etsy Store HERE. You'll get something cute, show your support, and be contributing to research all at the same time!!
In other news - on a more personal front, here's what I've been upto. For the past 2 years, I have been taking TaeKwonDo with Emily, who is now 11. We are both blue belts now, and have learned SO much! I love seeing Emily enjoy a sport and excel at it. And it's been a dream of mine for many years to earn my black belt. We should both be testing for black belt in exactly 1 year. So I'm really stepping up my fitness routine, and have added weight lifting, and will be really focusing on my running as well. I plan to be VERY ready!! I also enjoy being a stay-at-home-mom to Em, and helping her with homework and school stuff each night. For her recent birthday, I agreed to re-do her room from pastel little princess look to a bright turquoise ocean theme. I'm even painting an ocean mural on a 14 foot long wall in her room. It may take me a while longer to finish, but it's coming along nicely.
I sure hope you all are doing well. Be healthy and go get your mammograms!!!!!
